CGL’s Kent office was established in 2012 to provide geotechnical and environmental consultancy, supported by in-house site investigation capabilities, to complement existing construction materials testing capability and offer complete ground risk management. CET’s consultancy (rebranded to CTS) and SI capability were integrated into CGL’s consultancy when CTS acquired CGL in 2020.
While most schemes undertaken by CGL’s Kent office are within London and the Home Counties, ground investigations have been conducted throughout the UK, including Scotland and Wales. The Kent team has extensive experience designing and managing ground investigations on railways, highways, harbours, nuclear power stations, airports and commercial and residential developments. Typical projects have included slope stability investigations on Network Rail’s and Highways England’s infrastructure, ground investigations at Hunterston, Heysham, West Hartlepool and Dungeness Nuclear Power Stations, and pavement investigations at Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.
CGL’s services are managed by chartered civil engineers with up to 40 years of experience, chartered environmental scientists and post-graduate qualified specialists. This extensive technical expertise combined with in house site investigation capabilities enables the team to provide clients with effective ground risk management and, through proactive management of field crews and internal laboratory and field testing capabilities, best value.
